What are Your HEART Goals? Part 3

Are you feeling empowered after yesterday’s post? I’d love to hear from you about what is empowering to you about your HEART goal(s).

Gaining more clarity around a goal and aligning it with values has the effect of affirming our true, authentic selves. I begin to really walk my talk and am no longer able to keep up my multiple personalities - you know, being a certain version of myself in one setting versus a different version of myself in another setting. Anyone around me will get the real me (professional me, at-home in my sweats me, quirky me, etc.). I build trust with myself as I am being true to my values, and I build trust with others because they learn that I am who I say I am. It is freeing to release my true self onto the world - look out!

Usually a goal is something that stretches us and helps us to grow - we’re striving to be better in some way, otherwise we wouldn’t need the goal. We are pushed out of our comfort zone, but in doing the work, making progress empowers us to keep going, and affirms our self-efficacy.

My example is the health journey I’ve been on for the past six months. I set a goal to lose a certain amount of weight. Having tried pretty much every weight loss program & tactic you can think of, I couldn’t believe this one was actually working! Releasing the physical weight helped me to reveal to myself and the world who I truly am. I had hidden behind the pounds, but seeing results empowered me to keep going. Now that I have reached my goal weight, I have been able to affirm the me that was hiding. I am now empowered to coach others through this program, which creates another goal - to help empower others to affirm who they are and release their true self to the world. It puts me outside of my comfort zone - especially to post pictures of myself, but having released what was holding me back, I have gained so much more!

Achieving my goal has helped me to affirm who I truly am, and allows others I encounter to see that living authentically is truly a gift - it affirms for them that they can live authentically, also. What a gift to give to ourselves and one another!
